We are thankful and blessed that North Carolina continues to have a strong and growing employment market. The State's job market is strong, although it is inevitable that inflation will persist throughout the remainder of 2023. The economy is also very strong despite inflation as there continues to be a 2% increase in new residents brought to NC through expanded jobs and companies opening up new facilities, or expansions, in our State.
The RDU region is known for its robust job opportunities, particularly in industries such as technology, healthcare, education, research, and finance. The area is home to numerous universities, research institutions, and technology companies, which contribute to the thriving job market. Other areas of the state including Asheboro, Greensboro, and Charlotte also continue to thrive. Raleigh-Durham has consistently ranked high in various job market rankings and has experienced steady job growth over the years. The presence of Research Triangle Park, a technology and research hub, further enhances employment opportunities in the region. While the COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on the job market globally, Raleigh-Durham has also seen an impact like the rest of North Carolina. Notable investments in our economy are being made by Apple, Google, and Toyota adding thousands of additional jobs. This should bring other businesses and partners to the area.
